About Dr. Pohl

Dr. Pohl believes in patient driven medicine. He is a doctor who will take the time to get to the bottom of your pulmonary or sleep issues and work with you on a personalized solution. 

 

Dr. Pohl was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, but moved to Austin, Texas as a young child.  He attended Austin High School and The University of Texas at Austin, where he lettered in swimming. He later attended Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX.  Dr. Pohl met his wife, Bonnie, in Dallas while attending medical school. He did his internship and residency at Boston City Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and did his pulmonary fellowship at The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Dr. Pohl is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Medicine. He had a private practice in Austin, TX for over 30 years.  He was a hospitalist at Westlake Hospital, where he also was the Director of Respiratory Therapy and the Director of the Sleep Lab.

Dr. Pohl is currently the Director of the Sleep Lab of Bingham Hospital and Health and Wellness Sleep Labs in Pocatello and Blackfoot, Idaho.  He also has a Pulmonary Clinic at Teton Valley Rural Hospital in Driggs, Idaho.  He has owned and operated his own sleep lab, Doctor’s Sleep Lab. Dr. Pohl is licensed in Texas, Idaho and Oregon.

Dr. Pohl is an avid fly fisherman, mostly fishing in the Idaho, Henry’s Fork River area.  He and his wife have 4 daughters and 10 grandchildren.  He has lived in the Austin area most of his life.
